Florida statutory law provides numerous exemptions to its residents.   For asset protection purposes an exemption is a rule that protects certain assets of a debtor from attachment, lien, levy or garnishment by his or her creditors.

Such exemptions include a motor vehicle exemption [Fla Statute 222.25(1), exemptions for pre-paid medical and health savings accounts [222,22(2)], tax credits and refunds [222.25(3)], social security and veterans benefits and other public benefits [222.201], workers compensation, state pensions for teachers [238.15], police [185.25], firefighters [175.241], and State and County officers and employees [122.15], and alimony and child support benefits “to the extent reasonable necessary” for the debtor’s support and his or her dependents [222.201].
